History of CSA

The Community Service Association (CSA) was organized as the result of meetings among employee organizations who felt the need for a contribution club similar to others in the city. A temporary Board of Directors met for the first time on February 6, 1956, and the San Diego Unified School District Community Service Association (CSA) was incorporated under the laws of the State of California as a nonprofit corporation.

Since the Association's inception in 1956, CSA members have donated over $12 million to support local nonprofits with a focus on diverse and equitable programs in the arts, education, health, and human services.

How to Join CSA

District employees can become CSA members either by:

- initiating a voluntary payroll deduction in PeopleSoft self-service

- submitting a paper Payroll deduction form to [email protected] Payroll deduction form is available here.

Employees may also designate a charity via PeopleSoft or email to [email protected] with a minimum contribution of $5 per month.

Members wishing to make changes to membership status, donation amount, or designated agency (if any) may voluntarily do so at any time.  Otherwise CSA membership and designated agency (if any) will remain intact without further action.
