In the Arts Education Project (AEP), specially trained visiting teachers provide visual and performing arts lessons while elementary full grade-level teams are released for a three-hour block of collaborative time or PLCs. Students in AEP schools are given rotating arts instruction in three of the arts disciplines: dance, media arts, music, theatre or visual art. Sequential, standards-based arts lessons have been written by VAPA resource teachers, who also train the visiting arts teachers on those lessons. AEP provides six lessons, approximately one lesson every five weeks.
